Players often make a memorable spectacle of their century celebrations, and Shubman Gill has perfected this art. A comparable scene unfolded in the County Division 2 game between Yorkshire and Middlesex where Jonny Bairstow reached his century and emulated Gill's signature celebration.

‌Yorkshire’s decision to bat first paid off as openers Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean put together a solid 68-run stand in 15 overs. The partnership ended when Henry Brookes dismissed Bean in the 16th over. Lyth and James Wharton then added 37 runs to stabilize the innings. Luke Hollman of Middlesex disrupted Yorkshire’s progress by taking out Wharton and bringing Jonny Bairstow to the crease.

Bairstow began his innings in the 46th over with the score at 172/3. He started cautiously but soon accelerated, targeting Middlesex bowlers Hollman and Toby Roland-Jones with boundaries. After Luxton's dismissal, Bairstow reached his fifty off 77 balls. He continued to rotate the strike and hit more boundaries and ended up scoring a century off 122 balls. After hitting the ton, he replicated Shubman Gill’s iconic gesture by removing his helmet and bowing to the home dressing room. The crowd was thrilled by Bairstow's performance, marking his first first-class century in over two years and a significant response to his exclusion from England’s Test squad.

Take a bow, Jonny!
