Men’s Hundred | Twitter reacts to Pooran blitz empower Superchargers into top three contention
Northern Superchargers defeated the Manchester Originals by seven wickets to gather two crucial points and jump into the third position. Phil Salt’s 61 was suppressed by Nicholas Pooran’s flamboyant power striking as the hosts chased down a 153-run target despite Ben Stokes’ injury.
In response, Fazalhaq Farooqi mastered the new ball, removing Matt Short early before injury haunted back Ben Stokes as the skipper was left with no choice but to trudge off the field in agony. Unbothered by the setbacks, Harry Brook’s three boundaries in the next set helped the Superchargers to gather 23 runs inside the powerplay before a couple of economical overs led to Ollie Robinson’s downfall in the eighth set. Subsequently, a 56 runs third wicket stand followed between Nicholas Pooran and Brook before the latter fell short of a fifty by seven runs on the 68th ball. With Adam Hose at one end, Pooran continued the onslaught, reducing the equation to 49 needed off 20 balls. 23 runs came off the next ten balls before the southpaw ripped apart Farooqi for three sixes and a four in the penultimate set. With four needed from five balls, Pooran rotated the strike and Hose steered the side home with a six and three balls in hand.
