Men’s Hundred | Twitter lauds flying Sam Billings channel Paris Olympics vibes with one-handed stunner
Sports is one of the greatest entertainers in the world and people often channelize with the modern trends. Sam Billings taking a scintillating catch in the first game of doubleheader Saturday between Oval Invincibles and London Spirits sent flashbacks of the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.
With nine wickets down by the 18th set, Olly Stone’s intent to go big or go home took the wrong turn, courtesy of an excellent grasp from the wicketkeeper. Tom Curran sprayed a back-of-the-hand slower one on a good length outside the stumps on the 92nd ball of the innings. Stone looked to hack across the line but incurred an outside edge towards the keeper's right hand side. Billings, behind the stumps, leaped to his right and grasped the ball out of thin air in a whisker. The brilliant athleticism of the Oval captain was praised by the Twitterverse who vibed along with the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony.

Surrey’s Ollie Pope playing for a London franchise caught by Surrey’s Tom Curran off Surrey’s Will Jacks bowling while playing for another London franchise captained by Kent’s Sam Billings is why the Invisibles can’t celebrate with us at the end of season awards

But at least that team had great players.
This was a very young, totally inexperienced team with many debutants but once again India lost to the newbies making them heroes as always like Sam Curran was made.
Rizzing
