Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. There shouldn’t be any doubt that Virat Kohli abides Newton’s third law in practical life after replying to Asitha Fernando’s wild stare with his bat, bringing flashbacks of his vintage self during the third ODI between Sri Lanka and India.

Arriving on the back of a tie and win, Sri Lanka got off to a steady start with the bat as the top three stockpiled the bulk of the runs. With Asitha Fernando scoring 96, the home side propelled to 248/7 in 50 overs. In reply, India did get an impressive start on the back of Rohit Sharma’s 35 but the contest spiced up, courtesy of a fierce battle between Kohli and Asitha.

On the sixth ball of the fifth over, Asitha bowled a length delivery at the fourth stump that Kohli squared and fended. The bowler continued with his run up and sprinted towards the batter with a stare to Kohli’s surprise. However, the 35-year-old didn’t flinch but kept his composure and struck a couple of fours in the next over. He deliberately dabbed late on a back of a length delivery followed by dancing down the ground and heaving a length ball towards cow corner. Kohli didn’t just stop there as he whipped a length delivery seaming into the leg stump towards deep backward square leg for the third boundary against the same bowler.

Kohli was also charged up in the field during the initial innings and the Twitterverse found his characteristics similar to the ‘vintage Kohli’.
