Women’s Hundred | Twitter reacts to Matthews and Beaumont show eliminate Southern Brave in Cardiff
The Welsh Fire extended their winning run in the 2024 Women’s Hundred by a seven-wicket victory. A lethal new ball spell from the pacers followed by Hayley Matthews three-fer bundled Southern Brave for 84 before Tammy Beaumont and Jess Jonasses sealed the chase to stay atop in the league table.
Similar to their opposition, the Fire’s incurred an early blow as Sophia Dunkley departed for a golden duck off Lauren Cheatle’s peach. Hayley Matthews tried to accompany Tammy Beaumont in negating the lethal lateral movement off the pacers but failed to do so for long. Following her eight-ball-one, the Welsh skipper switched gears before Cheatle returned to clean her up on the 68th ball. With the score reading 59/3, the game was set for a proper finish from Jess Jonassen and Bryce as the pair grabbed two crucial points with a seven-wicket victory.
Nice one!

Welsh Fire are 2⃣ runs from a win!
Easy win there!
Simple win the end for Welsh Fire, but it was a bumpy road to begin with

Yeah!
Confirmation that Matthews is named Player of the Match.

Take that Charlotte Edwards 😂. This is what you get for denying a chance to a deserving player in the playing XI. Mary Taylor should have played from the first match itself as an automatic replacement for Anya Shrubsole.

Not happening!😞
What is happening with Southern Brave this year?!? 😞
— Kalyani Mangale (@MangaleKalyani)
Damn!
Southern Brave's 84 is the 7th lowest total in history of The Hundred Women's comp. A tough season so far, after winning the whole thing last year.

Great!

Lauren Cheatle's 2-8 is the second most economical innings of 20 balls bowled in the women's Hundred.
:O
Have the Brave Women lost their aura or have the other teams recruited well ahead of this edition of ?
