England have revealed their Jos Buttler-led contingent that will travel to the Caribbean and USA in a month for the World T20. The main talking points include Jofra Archer and Harry Brook's return from extended breaks while Chris Jordan and Tom Hartley's recent successes have also been rewarded.

‌Jofra Archer last played professional cricket in last season's IPL where he endured a flare-up of a long-term elbow injury and was subsequently ruled out. After failing to return in time for the ODI World Cup in October-November, the right-arm quick was not considered for the subsequent five-match Test series in India to ease him back to action. Archer is expected to make his comeback in the upcoming four-match T20 series against Pakistan beginning May 22 before the team heads to the Americas.

The squad has also been bolstered by Harry Brook's return after the explosive batter opted out of the India Tests owing to a mental break which he later attributed to the passing of his grandmother. The 25-year-old has since returned to action in the County Championship and managed two centuries along with a half-century in the four games so far.

The biggest surprise of the announcement was the inclusion of Chris Jordan given he had last represented England in September 2023. However, the Barbados-born all-rounder has since enjoyed modestly successful Vitality Blast, Big Bash League, and Pakistan Super League campaigns that paved the way for his international comeback, in conjunction with Jamie Overton on the sidelines with injury and Ben Stokes opting out of the tournament. Consequently, Chris Woakes was left without a seat on the flight despite being a constant fixture in the team over the past five years.

As for the spinners, England selectors have opted to back Tom Hartley after the tall left-arm spinner emerged as the team's leading wicket-taker in the series against India with 22 scalps. The Lancashire 24-year-old is yet to play a T20I and is expected to serve as backup for Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali.

England T20 World Cup squad: Jos Buttler (captain), Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali (vice-captain), Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Tom Hartley, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Reece Topley
