Three richly bets that could land you a kingdom from Chennai’s clash against Hyderabad
Kingdoms don’t exist anymore but you get the drift, right? While Chennai Super Kings would lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Wednesday encounter, by the end of this, we would not only tell you how you could land yourself a kingdom but will give you keys for it as well, so hop on.
Fall of CSK’s first wicket over 24.5 runs @1.86
They say winning is a habit and they are absolutely not wrong about it. Winning is a habit and so is Chennai Super Kings putting on a solid opening-wicket partnership. The reason that we are going for this bet twice in the week suggests that it is a winning bet and nothing short of it, especially considering how the Super Kings have played in the powerplay, this season. They might not have matched the prowess shown by Delhi or Kolkata but they have gone about their work rather quietly and effectively. In fact, in the last three innings - 25, 115 and 74 - CSK have crossed the 24.5 mark thrice, showcasing that their partnership is right on the top of the list. In fact, even on slower surfaces, from last year’s IPL, the pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis have put on a show, earning the trust of the Chennai management. But luckily for Chennai, they have already played quite a few games on sluggish surfaces at the Wankhede, which would give them the required trust, playing in Delhi. Now that’s not it all, Sunrisers are depleted on resources, with T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar injured. That’s where the bet gets its support from, especially considering CSK’s form.
Chennai Super Kings to score more sixes than Sunrisers Hyderabad @2
CSK sixes this season - 45
SRH sixes this season - 31
Post the return of Suresh Raina and with the inclusion of Moeen Ali, Chennai Super Kings have transformed themselves into a six-hitting machine of a side, with 45 sixes in the tournament, having just played five games, averaging nine sixes an encounter. Here is where it gets interesting, Sunrisers Hyderabad put themselves under so much pressure because of their reliance on Jonny Bairstow to tonk the ball. In the absence of Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad, who combined to score seven sixes for the franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad are short on options to clear the boundary. In their last H2H clash, the Super Kings scored nine sixes, in comparison to SRH’s two, out of which one came via Rashid Khan. In the clash before that, SRH had two sixes against their name, in comparison to CSK’s five. It just doesn’t end there, in SRH’s last four clashes, in only one innings has the franchise equalled the Men in Yellow’s sixes tally, which suggests that Chennai Super Kings would end up scoring more sixes than the Men in Orange.
Sunrisers Hyderabad to score over 47.5 runs in the powerplay @1.86
SRH’s powerplay scores in IPL 2021 - 35, 50, 57, 50, 56
Despite SRH getting a win against CSK last season, their openers crumbled under the pressure of some fine bowling from Sam Curran and Deepak Chahar in the powerplay. While Chahar was consistently troubling Bairstow, Curran accounted for the left-handed Warner. But this season, the Warner-Bairstow partnership has been in scintillating form, especially the Englishman. In his last five innings, Bairstow has scores of 38, 65, 43, 12 and 55, suggesting his great vein of form. In addition to that, SRH having played in Chennai for the first five games of their season, Delhi must come at ease, with the pitch expected to be better in play than the Southern city. This season, thus far, Sunrisers have had scores of 35, 50, 57, 50, 56 in the powerplay, with help from their top three, Bairstow, Warner and Kane Williamson. Only once this season, during their opener against Kolkata Knight Riders has the franchise scored below 47.5 runs in the first six overs. In that particular fixture, SRH had opted to go with Warner and Wriddhiman Saha at the top of the order, a move that they have seemingly moved on from. With Chennai Super Kings having their fair struggle in the powerplay, having conceded 65 and 45 runs in the powerplay in their last two games, SRH must have an easy time scoring 47.5.
