Twitter reacts as Mayank Agarwal gives perfect reply after getting hit on the helmet
In a tough morning session where the pacers dominated, Mayank Agarwal showed his class by asserting his dominance. But the highlight of the day came when he smashed Nortje for a boundary the very next ball after getting hit on the helmet and the Twitterati lost their minds and reacted on the same.
Despite winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian openers faced a tough time in the middle and had to negotiate the wrath of the Proteas pacers on the very first hour. While on one hand, Kagiso Rabada was making life hell for the batters, debutant Anrich Nortje, on the other, cranked up the pace and looked keen on unsettling the duo. In just the second over of his Test career, the tearaway quick struck Agarwal on the helmet with a quick bouncer and rocked him back.
The team physio quickly came on to the field and checked on Agarwal, but the opener reassured him of his fitness and sent him back. On the very next ball, when everyone was expecting a similar outcome, the Karnataka opener, unphased by the occasion and unintimidated by Nortje’s pace, smashed him for a boundary through the covers, giving him the perfect reply and making the crowd go berserk in the process. Agarwal stole the limelight in the morning session with this courageous act of his and sent social media into a frenzy.
