Sreesanth abused me and Rahul Dravid, discloses Paddy Upton
In his newly launched book 'The Barefoot Coach', India's mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton disclosed that Sreesanth abused him and Rahul Dravid after being dropped. He also wrote about the incidents just before the spot-fixing incident that hampered Sreesanthâs cricket career.
Upton has made some shocking revelations in his book including the one where Sreesanth had a huge outbreak after not being picked for a game and went on to abuse him and the then Royals skipper Rahul Dravid. Upton was rendering his services as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals in 2013 when Sreesanth abused him. Sreesanth was dismissed for poor behaviour and asked to go home just a day before his arrest on May 16, 2013.Â
âThe reason for Sreesanthâs repeated poor behaviour, which amongst other things included blurting out in front of the team that Rahul Dravid (captain) and I (Upton) could go and fâŚk ourselves in response for dropping him, now made sense," Upton wrote.Â
Upton further clarified the air regarding Sreesanthâs sacking in an interview to The Indian Express. He explained that Sreesanthâs temper wasnât normal as only 11 players can take the field and few are bound to get dropped to make room for other performers.Â
âIf someone is saying Sreesanth is an emotional person and was really upset, I am not going to be saying that you canât have an emotional outburst. But an outburst of that nature for being told that you are not going to play is an out-of-the-ordinary outburst. We tell 13 players (Royals squad strength is 24) every single IPL game for the last 7 seasons that you are not playing. Out of the 13, four have every reason to feel disappointed, but none of these reasons are enough to have that level of public outburst (that Sreesanth had). This suggests that there was something more to it," Upton said, reported The Indian Express.
