The International Cricket Council (ICC) have barred four players and a coach from Zimbabwe from participating in a T20 Series in England for the Women's Global Development squad. The decision comes on the aftermath of the ICC suspending Zimbabwe Cricket due to political interference.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has barred four players and a coach from the Zimbabwe National Cricket team from participating in a T20 Series in England for the Women's Global Development squad. The Women's Global Development squad was scheduled to play T20s in England against the KIA Women's Super League teams to promote the global development of Women's Cricket.

The decision comes in the wake of ICC's move to suspend Zimbabwe Cricket with immediate effect, a decision which was taken at the board and full member council meeting at London last week. Zimbabwe women's captain Mary-Anne Musonda and squad members Anesu Mushangwe, Tasmeen Granger, and Sharne Mayers and coach Adam Chifo are the personnels who have been barred from traveling to England.

"Unfortunately this also extends to their participation in the Women's Global Development Squad program, and so it is with great regret that I write to inform you that Adam as Head Coach and the four Zimbabwe players will no longer be able to take part in the UK edition of the tour next week,"  ICC Women's Cricket Manager Holly Colvin was quoted as saying, reported Times of India.

"As I'm sure you are aware, the ICC Board has taken the decision to suspend Zimbabwe Cricket with immediate effect and place a restriction on the Zimbabwe national team participating in ICC events," Colvin added.

The decision to ban Zimbabwe Cricket has raised the question over the country's immediate future in ICC tournaments, with their appearance in the upcoming ICC WT20 Qualifiers - both men and women, highly unlikely. Several players including Brendan Taylor and Sikandar Raza have also expressed their heartbreak and disappointment over the decision.
