Minerva Punjab FC’s owner Ranjit Bajaj is under risk of facing monetary sanctions or a likely ban due to his social media outburst against the AIFF. Bajaj is spearheading the group of I-League clubs that have criticised the Indian FA and its commercial partner Football Sports Development Ltd.

The current situation between the I-League clubs and the IMG-Reliance owned Football Sports Development Ltd. does not look to die down anytime soon as the All India Football Federation (AIFF) have asked the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to send in a group of respected delegates in order to sort things out on a domestic scale.

That being said, the AIFF executive committee met on Tuesday to discuss the paramount of punishment to be handed out to Minerva Punjab FC owner - Ranjit Bajaj. The outspoken Bajaj will get to know the actual degree of his punishment for his social media comments that he made against the Indian FA earlier this year by the end of this week.

Bajaj has acted as the unofficial leader of the six I-League clubs who have hit out against the “step-motherly” treatment that has been handed out to them by the AIFF. Bajaj was vocal on social media as he slammed the AIFF and its commercial partner the IMG-Reliance owned Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL).

The Indian governing body had said earlier that such social media messages bring disrepute to the game and Bajaj could be handed a monetary sanction or even be faced with a lengthy ban. The AIFF’s Code of Ethics can apply to any conduct or omission that damages the integrity and reputation of football in India and in particular to illegal, corrupt, fraudulent, immoral and unethical behaviour.
