Sourav Ganguly has come up mentioning that India should not only boycott playing Pakistan in the upcoming Cricket World Cup but also end any kind of sporting ties with the neighbouring country. India and Pakistan are scheduled to play in Manchester on June 16 during the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Many former cricketers and BCCI officials have come out in open saying that India must boycott its game against Pakistan during the upcoming Cricket World Cup in England and Wales after the ghastly terror attack on the CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on February 14.

Similarly, former India skipper Ganguly reflected the sentiments of his former teammate Harbhajan Singh, by saying that not playing Pakistan in one group stage tie in the upcoming World Cup will not affect India’s chances. Although, he didn't have a comment on what India should do if they have to play them later during the knockout stages of the tournament.

“There is no chance of a bilateral series with Pakistan after this incident. I agree that after this attack, India should not only stop playing cricket, hockey or football with Pakistan but cut all ties with them.” Ganguly told India TV.

“This is a 10-team World Cup and each team plays matches against every other team. I feel if India doesn’t play a match in the World Cup, it won’t be an issue."

The former Bengal batsman also added that it will not be easy for the global body to go into the prestigious event without the Men in Blue. According to him, India needs to send a strong message to the neighbouring country after the recent terror strike.

“I feel it will be really difficult for ICC [International Cricket Council] to go on with a World Cup without India. But, you also have to see if India has the power to stop ICC from doing such a thing. But, personally, I feel a strong message should be sent," the former skipper added.
