Mayank Agarwal, Mohammad Siraj get maiden call up for West Indies Test series
The BCCI selection committee has finally called up Mayank Agarwal, along with Mohammad Siraj for the two-match Test series against the Windies, which is scheduled to begin from October 4 in Rajkot. Virat Kohli will lead the Indian team and Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari are in the squad as well.
Amidst all the talks of Virat Kohli’s wrist injury, it has now been confirmed that he would lead India in the two-match Test series against the Windies. Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane will continue being Kohli’s deputy for the game while both Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan have been dropped from the 15-member Indian team that was declared today. KL Rahul and Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw are expected to start in the top-order.

The selectors have decided to rest both Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while Ishant Sharma has been injured and they have gone with Shardul Thakur and first-timer Mohammad Siraj. Thakur was yet to make his debut despite getting into the Test squad before, while the pacer from Hyderabad has got a maiden call in the team. Siraj has picked up 97 wickets so far in 20 first-class games has played three T20Is before.
The pace attack would be led by Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav during the series while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would take the responsibility of the spin department which is also including Kuldeep Yadav.
The two-Test series gets underway from October 4 in Rajkot. The second Test will be played from October 12 in Hyderabad, followed by five ODIs and three T20Is.
