Stuart Law has resigned as the head coach of the Windies cricket team and has decided to join Middlesex in the same role on a four year deal. Law, who took up the post last year, will continue as the coach till the end of the Windies tour of India and Bangladesh in October and November.

After serving West Indies cricket for more than a year, former Aussie cricketer Stuart Law has stepped down from the national side and has decided to take up the role of a coach of the Middlesex County Cricket Club in all formats of the game for four years. He has stated that it was a difficult decision to take for him but he decided to step down as being in Middlesex will help him stay close to his family.

"I have had to make the difficult decision to leave my role of Head Coach with CWI. It has been very enjoyable, and I believe we have made tremendous strides forward as a Team during the past 2 years." Law said in a press release, Cricbuzz reported.

"I will be taking a role with Middlesex CCC which will keep me close to my family, whilst continuing within the cricket family. I wish the players and staff of CWI every success in the future."

The former Australian batsman took over the West Indies team after Phil Simmons was sacked in 2016. The Windies team won nine Test matches and eight T20Is under him while in ODIs, the team failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy and had to play the qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup. The Cricket West Indies (CWI) has expressed its disappointment after Law's decision

"I am disappointed that Stuart is leaving as I believe that we have made real progress under his leadership. I know it was a difficult decision for him and that ultimately the opportunity to work in England, where his family is now based, was a major factor in his decision. We will start the process to appoint a new Head Coach immediately," CWI chief executive Johnny Grave said.
