Waqar Younis has praised Rohit Sharma's astute captaincy in the Asia Cup and stated that the latter has improved as a captain and will get better with time. The former Pakistani pacer has also gone on the praise the athleticism of the Indian fielders, who are pretty good in recent times.

After a long and energy-sapping tour of England, the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli was given a well-deserved rest and Rohit Sharma was made the stand-in captain. The task for Rohit was simple - to retain the Asia Cup and though stretched a bit in the final match, the Indian team held its nerves and chased the target of 223 set by Bangladesh. While the team's performance in the final was not what the team would have liked, Rohit's captaincy was spot-on and his field set amazing. His bowler management drew praise from many cricketers and Younis joined the bandwagon.

"Virat makes a massive difference at number three. But without Virat in the tournament, I think Rohit has done a wonderful job. He is very calm. His captaincy is growing every day. I have seen him do the captaincy in IPL as well. He is very calm. He likes to allow people to make their own decisions. He allows people to make their moves. He is a wonderful captain," Younis was quoted saying by Khaleej Times.

The former Pakistani pacer, who had a scintillating career with 789 international scalps and a bowling average of less than 24, also went on the praise the athleticism of Indian fielders.

"But batting has always been there. Now the fielding standard has also been very high with all these youngsters showing their fitness and skills".

The 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup, which will be hosted by England and Wales, will take place from 30 May to 14 July 2019. Apart from the hosts, if one team has a strong chance to win the tournament, it is India thanks to their all-round stability.

"I mean India will always be the force going into the World Cup because with Virat Kohli coming back, they will develop into a very good side".
