Ranji Trophy | Elite C Day 2: Jammu and Kashmir falters after Mohammed Mudhasir’s hat-trick

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Mohammed Mudhasir became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the ongoing season of Ranji Trophy in a group C game against Rajasthan. The team, however, failed to impress as they are 186/7 in their first innings at stumps on the second day of the game.

Rajasthan vs Jammu and Kashmir

Brief Scores: Jammu and Kashmir 186/7 (Parvez Rasool 47, Shubham Khajuria 40; Tanwir Haq 3/59, Rahul Chahar 3/59) trail Rajasthan 379/10(Chetan Bist 159; Mohammed Mudhashir 5/90) by 193 runs

Jammu and Kashmir batsmen failed to fight against a quality bowling attack of Rajasthan as they were trailing by 193 runs with three wickets in hand at stumps on the second day against Rajasthan in Jaipur. Skipper Parvez Rasool was the top-scorer for J&K with a score of 47. Shubham Khajuria and Paras Sharma also got off to good starts but were unable to convert those and got out on 40 each. Rahul Chahar and Tanwir Haq wreaked havoc with the ball for Team Rajasthan. Earlier in the day, pacer Mudhasir ended up with a fifer including a hat-trick to bowl Rajasthan out for 379. Wicket-keeper Chetan Bist remained the highest scorer for them with 159.

Odisha vs Haryana

Brief Scores: Haryana 239/3 (Himanshu Rana 113*, Chaitanya Bishnoi 75; Rajesh Mohanty 2/36) trail Odisha 324/10 (Anurag Sarangi 114, Shantanu Mishra 71; Tinu Kundu 4/44) by 85 runs 

After losing two early wickets, Haryana batsmen Himanshu Rana and Chaitanya Bishnoi stitched together a partnership of 178 runs for the third wicket to take Haryana to a safe score against Odisha in Bhubaneswar. Bishnoi gout out to Rajesh Mohanty for 75 while Rana completed his hundred and is unbeaten on 113 with Haryana trailing by 85 runs in the first innings. They are 239/3 at the end of the second day’s play after bowling Odisha out for 324. Shantanu Mishra got to his fifty in the morning session of the day before the Haryana bowlers wrapped up the tail in no time. Tinu Kundu scalped four wickets while Mohit Sharma and Harshal Patel picked up two each.

Jharkhand vs Assam

Brief scores: Assam 126/2 (Gokul Sharma 49*, Sibsankar Roy 47*; Ashish Kumar 1/30) trail Jharkhand 344/10 (Anukul Roy 80; Mukhtar Hussain 5/72) by 218 runs

After Anukul Roy’s innings of 80 runs for the home team, Assam have scored 126 runs in their first innings in another group C game in Ranchi. Jharkhand scored 344 runs in the first innings after a very good lower-middle contribution by Anukul who went on to top-score for the Jharkhand side. Mukhtar Hussain scalped five wickets for the visitors. In reply, Assam lost both their openers early in the game with only 27 runs on the board as Ashish Kumar and Varun Aaron picked up Rishav Das and Pallavkumar Das respectively. Gokul Sharma and Sibsankar Roy recovered Assam from early damage as they added 99 runs for the fourth wicket by scoring 49 and 47 respectively. Both of them are unbeaten at the crease with Assam trailing by 218 runs in the first innings.  

Tripura vs Services 

Brief Scores: Services 136/3 (Anshul Gupta 62; Manisankar Murasingh 2/37) trail Tripura 360/10 (Bishal Ghosh 201; Diwesh Pathania 4/79) by 224 runs

Tripura were bowled out for 360 runs after Bishal Ghosh’s captain knock of 201 runs in the first innings. There was no significant performance from any other batsman from the North Eastern state as Smit Patel was their second highest scorer with 38 runs. For services, Diwesh Pathania was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/79. In reply, Services are three down with 136 runs on the board after day 2. Anshul Gupta got to his fifty after Navneet Singh missed the milestone by just a run. Manisankar Murasingh pocketed two wickets for the home side as the Services trail by 224 runs in the first innings after Day 2.
