To see almost 500 runs scored in 50 overs in England is scaring me, says Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly has raised concern in a series of tweets about the number of runs scored against Australia by England as they posted a mammoth 481 for 6 in just 50 overs in Nottingham. Ganguly recalled the quality of bowlers Australia had and hoped there are better bowlers in their ranks.

It was carnage in Nottingham as the hosts England put up a massive score of 481 for 6 in just 50 overs. Earlier in the day, Australian captain Tim Paine won the toss and elected to bat first, the only thing that went their way and after that their bowlers were thrashed all over the park by English batsmen. While England’s explosive batting left the world gasping for breath, Ganguly revealed why he found England's total scaring.

In the first of series of tweets, he raised concern as to where Cricket is heading after such massive scoreline.

"To see almost 500 runs scored in 50 overs in England is scaring me ..about the health of the game and where it’s going.. Australian bowling getting treated this way whatever the conditions may be is not acceptable.. A country of Lillee, Thompson, Benaud," the former left-handed batsman wrote.

The second tweet expressed disappointment over the quality of bowling and fact that how a country like Australia let their Ashes rival post such total.

“McGrath, Lee, Warne, McDermott, Gillespie …produce such ordinary stuff is nerve-wracking..good bowling is important for the survival of the game ..is it dying?hopenot..I am sure they are more skillfull and better bowlers in one of most powerful nations in cricket,” he added.

In his third tweet, he questioned Australian selection.

“McGrath ..lee ..Warne played both forms of the game at the same time ..Hazelwood, Starc I m sure can do the same”

Lastly, he compared big hitting by hosts with book cricket.

“Then what I am seeing in display ..was like playing book cricket today” he tweeted.
