On the second day of the second Duleep Trophy game, India Blue batsman Dhruv Shorey went on to score an unbeaten 86 to take his side to 183/5 with a deficit of 133 runs against India Red. Earlier in the day, the Reds could manage to add only 60 runs to their overnight score and folded up for 316.

Brief scores: India Red 316 all out in 114.5 overs (Siddhesh Lad 88, Sanjay Ramaswamy 72, Saurabh Kumar 3 /75, A Wakhare 3/76) vs India Blue 183/5 in 63 overs (Dhruv Shorey 86*, Ricky Bhui 41, Rajneesh Gurbani 2/12)

Bandaru Ayyappa started the early damage by picking up India Red top-scorer Siddhesh Lad who could add only five runs to his first day score and got out for 88. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals for the Reds without much contribution from the lower-order apart from Abhimanyu Mithun who scored 31 off 46.

The India Red side finished with 316 on the board in 114.5 overs just before the tea break on day 2. For India Blue, Saurabh Kumar and Akshay Wakhare pocketed three wickets each while Ayyappa and Jaydev Unadkat claimed two apiece.

Resuming their innings after Tea, India Blue lost the wickets of openers Abhishek Raman and Faiz Fazal in consecutive overs to Rajneesh Gurbani and Parvez Rassol. Gurbani struck again in the 10th over to send back Anmolpreet Singh and the Blues were in dire straits with 18/3 on the board in 10 overs.

Delhi batsman Shorey then combined with Ricky Bhui to carry out the recovery work. The duo added 112 runs for the fourth wicket before Baba Aparajith picked up the wicket of Bhui (41). Shorey completed his fifty and stitched another healthy partnership with wicket-keeper Srikar Bharat. Bharat (35) was castled by Rasool a couple of overs before stumps on the second day while the Delhi man remained unbeaten at the crease.
