The highly anticipated replay of last year’s final between Bijapur Bulls and Belagavi Panthers was called off because of a wet outfield caused by heavy rains at the Hubli Cricket Ground. Both the teams, who had lost their respective opening games, share a point each as to secure their first points.

Last year’s champions, Belagavi Panthers outplayed a strong Bijapur Bulls team that had the likes of Bharat Chipli and India pacer - Abhimanyu Mithun. The thriller of a game last time around ensured that the buzz surrounding their meeting in this year’s competition was at an all-time high ahead of today’s showdown at the Hubli Cricket Ground. But as the rain gods descended upon the pitch, the match was eventually called off.

The ground staff tried their best but the outfield did not seem to dry and there were still wet patches all across the ground which made the pitch unsafe for a game of cricket. It started raining again but the match officials had decided to call it off due to the wet outfield earlier itself. Both teams had lost their respective opening games will now share a point each as they register their first points in this year’s competition.

However, the Bijapur Bulls will be in action again tomorrow as they go up against Bangalore Blasters in the second game of the day. Hopefully, the rain won’t play a spoilsport in the two games in tomorrow’s double-header.
