After reports revealed an alleged malpractice from MCA pitch curator Pandurang Salgaonkar, Vinod Rai and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri have promised strong action if Salgaonkar is found guilty. The BCCI had also appointed Ramesh Mhamunkar as the point person for the centre wicket before the match started.

The BCCI immediately suspended Salgaoncar, who was caught in a sting operation promising to manipulate the Pune pitch which is hosting the second ODI of the India-New Zealand series today. As a result, Salgaonkar has been barred from entering the ground and Ramesh Mamunkar, the Wankhede curator, will take over from the former Maharashtra pacer.

After observing the incident, Vinod Rai was stern in his views and reiterated that a detailed inquiry would be made and the matter would be taken with utmost seriousness.

“We are looking into the issue and in contact with the concerned officials. We have asked for a detailed report and will act upon it accordingly. At BCCI, we have zero tolerance towards any such activity," Rai was quoted as saying by a BCCI press release.

BCCI CEO Rahul Johri echoed the same and promised that strict actions will be taken against Salgaonkar if he found guilty.

"A strict action has been taken against the pitch curator and the employment relationship between Mr Pandurang Salgaonkar and MCA stands terminated. The BCCI is in touch with the MCA and appropriate measures will be taken with regards to the matter. The BCCI will continue to enforce strict measures in case of such misconduct in the future."

Today, in the morning, a string operation on India Today surfaced that reporters, disguised as bookies, had approached Salgaonkar asking for details of the pitch on which the match would be played. The reporters were even allowed to enter the main playing area, which is against the BCCI and ICC rules.
