Indian javelin thrower Annu Rani finished at the seventh position in the prestigious IAAF Diamond League athletics competition in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Indian, with her best throw of only 59.35m, had to remain content with the seventh-place finish at the event in Switzerland.

Women’s javelin throw in the Diamond League didn’t go well for India as their top challenge in the form of Annu Rani failed to finish anywhere close to the podium. In the International Association of Athletics Federations’ Diamond League, Rani managed a best of only 59.35m and finished at the seventh place on the table. Her best throw came in the third attempt in Lausanne.

Rani had won a silver medal in the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships which was played earlier this year in April. The 26-year-old athlete, who is currently-placed at 16 on the world rankings, has the national record in javelin to her name. She had overtaken her own record with a throw of 62.34m in Patiala earlier this year.

Germany’s Christin Hussong bagged the gold medal with a best throw of 66.59m. Barber Kelsey-Lee of Australia and Czech Republic’s World record holder Barbora Spotakova managed to win the silver and bronze medal respectively with distances of65.63 and 63.79.
