The AIFF has suspended Mohun Bagan manager Sanjoy Sen for eight matches, along with a fine of Rs. 10 Lakh, for making 'derogatory statements'. Sanjoy Sen received a notice for stating that the AIFF “has been sold out” after the AIFF refused to reschedule their match ahead of their trip to China.

“The AIFF Disciplinary Committee met at the Football House in New Delhi today (March 03, 2016). The decisions taken by the committee follow below:-

“Mr. Sanjoy Sen, Head Coach, Mohun Bagan, is charged for making derogatory statements against AIFF. Sanjoy Sen, is suspended for 8 (eight) matches & a fine of Rs. 10 Lakhs is imposed on him as provided in Article 58 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code.

“In another case, Mr. Gumpe Rime, GK Coach of Shillong Lajong FC is suspended for 4 (four) matches & a fine of Rs. 30,000 is imposed on him as provided in Article 50-1-a & 58 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code, respectively for the use of abusive language against the referees decision,” the official statement released by the AIFF read.

Sanjoy Sen's outburst against the AIFF came when AIFF informed them that their fourth round I-League tie against DSK Shivajians will not be rescheduled, despite their trip to China to face Shandong Luneng in their AFC Champions League second round qualifying fixture, which they ended up losing 6-0.

His eight-match suspension means he will be absent on the sidelines for the remaining six I-League fixtures of Mohun Bagan, who currently hold a slim one-point lead at the top of the table over Bengaluru FC.
