Last year, Paes was knocked out in the third round of the men's doubles event at the Wimbledon, along with his then partner Daniel Nestor. His current partner Marcin Matkowski had done one better and reached the quarterfinal of the competition, alongside his partner Nenad Zimonjic. However, the duo, who reignited their partnership at the French Open, having played with each other back in 2014, will be keen to put on a much better performance, this time, around.

The Indo-Polish pair of Paes/Matkowski got off to a flying start and won the first set 6-1 in the blink of an eye after breaking their opponents twice. The second set was a much tighter affair, but the Indo-Polish pair broke their opponents' serve in the fifth game to take a 3-2 lead. They held serve on their own and won the match with ease to move into the next round.
