The Kabaddi Masters Championship began in Dubai on Friday as India took on arch-rivals Pakistan in the opening game. There was hardly any surprise as India easily won 36-20 against their opponents except for one, the performance of star raider Pardeep Narwal.
The 21-year-old, who scored 369 raid points in the Pro Kabaddi League last season guiding Patna Pirates to a hat-trick of titles, could not match-up to the expectations as he failed to get a single point against Pakistan at the Al Wasl Sports Complex in Dubai on Friday.
However, the skipper of the Patna Pirates in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) said he will bounce back against Pakistan on Monday.
"I couldn't get the grip of the mat in the opener. It appeared too slippery and that's why I failed but now after two days of practise on the same mat, I think I am ready to do what India expects me to do against Pakistan on Monday," Pardeep told TOI on Sunday.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Republic of Korea routed Argentina 72-16 while Pakistan outplayed Kenya 43-21.
