Owen Hargreaves warns that Harry Kane Champions League aspirations could be hindered by Bayern Munich defensive weaknesses. Despite having one of the most talented squads, Bayern have conceded 11 goals in seven games. Hargreaves believes Bayern aggressive style, including a vulnerable defence, needs to improve for them to win the Champions League, especially under new boss Vincent Kompany.

For the upcoming Champions League, Harry Kane’s potential to secure a fairytale victory with Bayern Munich could be hindered by the team’s defensive struggles, according to former England star Owen Hargreaves. The final, set for May 31, 2025, at Munich’s Allianz Arena, presents an opportunity for Kane, but Bayern's defensive vulnerabilities are a significant concern.

Currently sitting 15th in the expanded 36-team Champions League standings, Bayern has conceded 11 goals in seven matches, including a 3-0 loss to Feyenoord. Hargreaves, who won the Champions League with Bayern in 2001, emphasized that while Bayern is talented offensively, their aggressive play style leaves them exposed defensively. He pointed out their recent defeats, including one to Aston Villa, where quick counterattacks exploited their defensive gaps.

Hargreaves added that Bayern must refine their defensive tactics, particularly under new coach Vincent Kompany, to compete with stronger teams like Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. Despite these challenges, Hargreaves believes Bayern can win if they adjust their defensive approach. The knockout stages will be critical in testing their ability to balance offensive flair with solid defence.
