Victor Lindelof, Manchester United longest-serving outfield player after Luke Shaw, is set to leave on a free transfer this summer after eight seasons and over 250 appearances. United attempted to sell him last summer, but an injury halted his exit. With Lisandro Martinez injured, Lindelof may still feature in his final months, despite playing only 340 minutes this season.
In the final months of his Manchester United career, Victor Lindelof is set to leave the club when his contract expires in June 2025. The Swedish defender, who arrived from Benfica in 2017, has made over 250 appearances for United but has seen limited game time this season, playing just 340 minutes across nine appearances, with only four starts.
Last summer, United attempted to sell Lindelof to secure a transfer fee, but an untimely injury during pre-season prevented his departure. Despite being on the fringes, he remained part of the squad under new manager Ruben Amorim. However, with Lisandro Martínez ruled out for the season and Jonny Evans still injured, Lindelof may have a role to play before his departure.
Amorim prefers a three-man defense, and while Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Leny Yoro are first-choice options, Lindelof could be needed, especially if Maguire struggles with fitness. Though never considered a top-tier defender, Lindelof’s experience and longevity at the club make him a valuable squad player. As he prepares to leave on a free transfer, his final months could still hold significance in United’s campaign.
