On-loan Arsenal defender William Saliba has admitted that he isn’t sure if he has played his last game with Olympique Marseille amidst rumours of a permanent move. The 21-year-old has thrived for the French side this season with 36 league appearances while winning the Young Player of the Year award.

When Arsenal signed William Saliba in the summer of 2019, there was a lot of hype that surrounded the young defender especially since the Gunners paid north of 30 million for the 19-year-old. But in the three years since, the defender has made just two appearances for the club with both coming in the Carabao Cup. Not only that, Saliba has spent three separate spells out on loan in France but has thrived at OGC Nice and now at Olympique Marseille, playing a key role in the latter’s second-place finish.

It has seen reports and rumours indicate that the defender is open to permanently signing for Marseille especially in light of Saliba winning the Young Player of the Year award. But the Arsenal loanee admitted that he doesn’t know what his future holds and believes that the most “important thing” is to help Marseille confirm their Champions League spot for next season. Not only that, he dedicated his award to his “teammates, my club and the supporters”.

"It's an honour, a source of pride. I dedicate this trophy to my teammates, my club and the supporters. Did I play my last match with OM? I don't know. The future will tell us. The most important thing is to confirm this good season by qualifying for the Champions League. Afterwards, we'll see," Saliba said at the awards ceremony in Paris.
