Reports | Chelsea inform agents that they will do transfer business in January

Chelsea are lobbying hard so that the transfer ban is lifted off them so that the club can finally sign players to add some squad depth. The London based club have appealed to the Court of Arbitration of Sport so that it reduces the ban to the one window the club has already served this season, reports the Mirror.  The Blues have been hit with a ban of two transfer windows after the club was found guilty by the English FA.

Chelsea officials can point out to the fact that Premier League rivals Manchester City had faced a similar situation recently but did not get any transfer ban. The Europa League Champions have not made their intentions of signing players official, but club officials have been in contact with top football agents across Europe and have informed them that the club expects to conduct transfer business in the upcoming January transfer window. 

The Mirror have also reported that a football agent has been quoted as saying, “Chelsea are anxious to strengthen their squad and seem pretty confident that they will win the appeal and be able to trade again in January. It could mean the difference to them finishing in the Premier League top four and qualifying for the Champions League.”
