With Antoine Griezmann walking in, many expected the former Atletico Madrid star to make an immediate impact for the club but nothing has not gone his way this season. Instead, in 15 appearances for the La Liga giants, Griezmann has managed just four goals and three assists with manager Ernesto Valverde still not sure where his best position for Barcelona is.
More often than not the 27-year-old has played as a left-winger, where he has struggled to impose himself, and only occasionally as a center-forward. That has seen Valverde’s decision making, among many other things, questioned but in an interview, Griezmann went on to admit that the transition has been harder than he expected. The Frenchman also added that with time and a little patience he will eventually find his groove and start performing for the club.
"It is hard, I knew it would be, it is not the easiest place. This is a new team, a new club, new tactics, a new position. I have to work, try to understand my team-mates, after they will understand me too and it will work just like that… Critics will always be there. But I am good, I am proud of where I am. Only work pays off. I have to take confidence and it will all come just like that,” Griezmann told Get French Football News.
