According to a TOI report, I-League clubs, led by Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, will meet on Monday to decide their plan as far as the future of the league is concerned. The All India Football Federation is expected to declare the Indian Super League as India’s premier football tournament soon.

After AIFF general secretary Kushal Das made it clear that the federation will make ISL the premier football competition of the country soon after a meeting of the executive committee on July 3, various I-League clubs have started deciding their future course of action. According to the report in TOI, the clubs will hold a meeting in Delhi on Monday regarding the same.

Das has cited a 2010 Master Rights Agreement (MRA) signed between the AIFF and IMG Reliance which clearly stated that the “New League” will be made “the most senior and prestigious football league in India”. The I-League clubs are now thinking of appealing in the court and according to one of the clubs' officials, there is no other way in the matter.

“I cannot see any other way, besides approaching the court. What choice do we have? We wrote to AFC and FIFA who made it clear that they initiated a study and the report has already been submitted to AIFF. That they chose to suppress the report because it favours the clubs is no secret,” a senior club official told TOI.

Churchill Brothers FC, Minerva Punjab, Aizawl FC and Gokulam Kerala FC are the other football clubs who will join the two Kolkata clubs in the meeting scheduled to be held on Monday.
