Arsenal’s bid for Wilfried Zaha is not big enough, confirms Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Arsenal’s bid to sign Wilfried Zaha is nowhere close to what the Eagles value the forward. The interest between Arsenal and Zaha is mutually exclusive but the North London side have failed with their first bid for the Ivory Coast star.

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has revealed in the recent past that he would like to move back to a bigger European club and play Champions League football in the near future. The forward has been outstanding for the Eagles over the last few years and that has seen the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and even Inter Milan all take a keen interest.

However, it’s Arsenal’s who have made the first and only move so far, offering the Eagles £40 million plus the option to sign three players instead of their £80 million valuation. That did not make Crystal Palace happy with the club immediately rejecting the bid for the 26 year old. While Zaha is still keen on a move away, the former Manchester United man has made no transfer request as of yet.

That has seen Eagles boss Roy Hodgson confirm that Zaha will stay at the club unless the Gunners make a bid close to their valuation. “I don’t think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation,” Hodgson told the Metro.

“I’m sure the player realises that if someone’s going to take him away from us, he’ll expect clubs to pay the market value. Until someone does that, there’s not much to discuss regarding Wilf.”
