FC Goa has announced the contract extension of Saviour Gama who will stay in the club till the 2021 summer.  Gama has expressed his delight over getting a chance to stay in the club for another couple of years and is hopeful of improving a lot more during his stay in the club from his home state.

Being one of the four players to make a good transition from Clifford Miranda's developmental squad, which won the Goa Football Association (GFA) Professional League in the 2018-19 season, to the ISL main team, the 22-year-old left-back will now continue with the side till the summers of 2021. Getting the news of him being retained in his home franchise, the youngster expressed his delight.

"I'm very happy to be staying here at the club. I hope I can improve a lot more in the next two years and beyond. I've been in Goa my whole life, and was born here. It's my home," exclaimed Gama, reported PTI.

After making his debut in the tournament last year during a league game against Chennaiyin FC, which the Gaurs won by 1-0 goals, he came in as a replacement for Mandar Rao Dessai who got injured in the final against eventual champions Bengaluru Bulls. The Margao-born defender also bagged the Player of the Match award in the Super Cup encounter against I-League winners Chennai City FC.

Derrick Pereira, Head of Youth Development and Technical Director at FC Goa praised Gama as the defender gets ready for two more seasons with the Gaurs.

“This contract extension is deserved and I hope Saviour takes this opportunity to improve even further. His performances with the development team showed us that he could improve our style of play and he has shown exactly that. If he keeps this level up, I see him making it to the national team in the future,” said Pereira.
