We haven't had dinner together yet, maybe in the future, says Cristiano Ronaldo about Lionel Messi

Yesterday, the most powerful sides in Europe got to know their opponents for the group stages of the Champions League. While the teams were drawn over time, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi produced the best highlights of the night, something they have done well over the course of their careers.

The Portuguese star has spent most of his career battling with Lionel Messi for the several titles during the season and for the most prestigious individual award in the Ballon d'Or. However, their relationship off the pitch seems better than ever, with them openly talking about different subjects last night in the UEFA ceremony.

“I was curious because we shared this stage for 15 years me and him, I don't know if that has ever happened in football, the same two guys on the stage at the same time, so it's not easy. Of course, we have a good relationship, we have not had dinner together yet but I hope in the future." Ronaldo joked at the possibility.

Lionel Messi took home the award for the Best Striker in the Champions League last season, with Virgil van Dijk winning UEFA's Player of the Season award. Many expect another tight race between the three players for the 2019 Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best Award, with Van Dijk and Messi amongst the nominees.
