Premier League | Manchester derby ends in a goalless draw

Manchester City and Manchester United played out a hard-fought goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium to keep alive their hopes of a top-four finish in the League. The result saw United also extend their unbeaten league run to 24 games - their longest undefeated streak in a single top-flight season.

In the absence of top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, sidelined with an injury, United produced a solid defensive performance. Pep Guardiola's City dominated the proceedings and would have taken the lead in the ninth minute but Sergio Aguero struck the upright from close range.

Ander Herrera, who was joined in the midfield by Michael Carrick due to the injury-forced absence of Paul Pogba, helped United create their best opportunity but failed to close it out.

In the 84th-minute, Marouane Fellaini was sent off for a headbutt on Aguero. Just 19 seconds after being booked for a foul on Aguero, Fellaini headbutted the City striker and this time was slapped with a red by the referee.
