Six games without a win is a concern, admits Guardiola

The 1-0 Derby defeat to Manchester United in the EFL Cup extended Manchester City’s win-less streak to six games, and Pep Guardiola admitted that the situation did not look good. . The ex-Bayern coach, however, drew some solace from the performances of youngsters Aleix Garcia and Pablo Maffeo.

"Yeah, it’s six games – not a good situation – but we are out of one competition, we have three still," Guardiola told City.tv website following the team’s 

second loss in two weeks after being outclassed 4-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League followed by a draw against Southampton on Sunday.

The defeat also marked Guardiola's longest run without a win as manager.

Nonetheless, the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach was upbeat regarding his players' performances, particularly teenagers Garcia and Maffeo.

"Aleix was outstanding – Pablo Maffeo as well, fighting with Rashford and Pogba. We made a good performance, so there's no regrets. We were still fighting until the last minute,” the 44-year-old said.

"We are a young team. Kelechi is 20, Leroy 20, Pablo 19 - it is a good experience for them. Fernando played amazing and helped the other ones," he added.
