Shubman Gill was in sensational form against Sunrisers Hyderabad, smashing 76 off just 28 balls with remarkable timing and power. However, his brilliant innings was cut short by an unfortunate run-out, as a miscommunication on the field left him visibly frustrated and disappointed.

‌Gujarat was asked to bat first by Sunrisers skipper Pat Cummins and got off to a strong start with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan putting up 53/0 in four overs. The duo continued the onslaught, reaching 82/0 by the end of the powerplay, but leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari broke the partnership by dismissing Sudharsan in the seventh over. Jos Buttler joined Gill, and the pair added 62 runs, pushing the score to 140/1 in 12 overs. Gill's explosive knock of 76 off 38 ended with a controversial run-out in the 13th over, leading to a dispute with the fourth umpire.

On the last ball of the 13th over, Zeeshan Ansari bowled a length delivery to Buttler, who called for a quick single after turning it to short fine leg. As both batsmen ran, the short leg fielder Harshal Patel threw the ball to wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen, who broke the stumps, prompting the third umpire's review. The big screen revealed that the ball had slipped out of Klaasen's gloves, raising questions about whether it had hit the stumps or the gloves, but it was clear Gill was short of his ground. As the decision was made, a frustrated Gill walked off and was seen having a heated exchange with the third umpire near the dugout, sparking widespread discussion on social media.
