This has recently happened with Punjab Kings in the IPL auction, which makes them regret the release.
The team went on to release five players from its line-up before entering the auction. And these players included the top names of Josh Inglis and Glenn Maxwell. But now, the team management is regretting the decision they made to release from their squad for the next season.

In the last season, he played an impressive total of 11 games for Punjab Kings in the tournament, but made them all count.

Although Prabhsimran Singh lost his wicket early, Josh Inglis came at number three and partnered with Priyansh Arya. He went on to score 73 runs off 42 balls, and even won the POTM award.
Later in the Qualifier 2 match against Mumbai Indians yet again, Josh Inglis gave his best. During the chase, he was able to score 38 runs off 21 balls for the team, which also opened the way for Shreyas Iyer to complete the chase. Maintaining an impressive strike rate, he was able to play a silent role for Punjab Kings in the same.
Even in the finals against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, . Despite the main batters failing to score well, Inglis scored 39 runs to ensure that the team remained in the chase. But after his wicket fell down, the match seemed to have slipped away from the team's hands.
