For any young bowler in domestic cricket, taking a wicket is a memorable moment, but dismissing a top-class batter makes it even special. Such was the case in the Duleep Trophy match between India A and India C, where Aaqib Khan claimed the prized wicket of India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.

‌Overnight batters Tanush Kotian and Kumar Kushagra resumed proceedings for India A, but India C had an early breakthrough when Gaurav Yadav dismissed Kushagra at the start of the day. After losing Avesh Khan's wicket, India A declared their innings at 286/8, setting a commanding lead of 349 runs.

In response, India C began their chase with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Vyshak Vijayakumar opening the innings. Following Vyshak's dismissal, Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings, taking the score to 111/1 in 37 overs. However, the game’s turning point came when Aaqib Khan dismissed Gaikwad, sparking an ecstatic celebration.

On the fourth ball of the 38th over, Aaqib delivered a fuller-length delivery aimed at the off-stump.  The ball moved away slightly, drawing the India C captain into an uncertain push. Gaikwad, stepping out of his crease to jab at it, got an unfortunate edge that was comfortably caught by wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra. Aaqib, thrilled to have taken such a crucial wicket, celebrated wildly with a triumphant fist pump, marking a defining moment in the match.

Killer Celebration!
