In a battle between pacers and batters the equation often boils down to ego, and the first to blink pays the price. In Delhi on Wednesday, it was Parvez Hossain Emon who came second best in his encounter with Arshdeep Singh and was met with a quiet but emphatic send off from the quick.

India racked up a commanding total of 221 after upon being asked to bat fist by Bangladesh in the second T20I on the back of rapid half-centuries from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh. The Tigers' openers Litton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon thus found themselves facing a tall-order when they walked out to bat but got off to a resplendent start, the latter smacking three boundaries in the opening over of Arshdeep Singh. However, it was the left-arm quick that had the last laugh in his ensuing over, and celebrated his victory in fitting fashion.

Arshdeep began his second over with a length ball that swung past Emon's attempted heave and the stumps safely through to the keeper. The veteran dished out a knuckle ball next ti deceive the Bangladeshi batter all hands up but the leading edge dropped just in front of Suryakumar Yadav and mid-on. Having taken the front foot in the battle, Arshdeep tried to further enforce his authority with a quick bumper and the move paid great dividends as Emon pulled hard at the Kookaburra, only to get an under edge that saw the white rock shatter into off-stump.

Having emerged from the early pressure ardently, Arshdeep simply kept his eyes fixated on Emon as he turned around and walked back distraught, even as the other Men in Blue swarmed the pacer for prividing the opening breakthrough. Twitterati was unsurprisingly amused and enthralled by the entire incident.
