BGT 2024 | Twitter in stitches as DSP Siraj schools Labuschagne after his “no run” remark sparks banter

Rivalry is an intrinsic part of cricket, and the India-Australia clash always intensifies the drama. On the third day of the first Test, the tension flared as Mohammed Siraj and Marnus Labuschagne engaged in some banter, which eventually escalated into a heated exchange between the two.

‌The Perth pitch saw its pace and bounce going low as Indian batters showed his dominance with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitching 201 runs. The run flow continued and the Indian side finished at 487/6, courtesy of centuries from Jaiswal and Virat Kohli as India set a target of 534 runs. Australia's second innings got off to a disastrous start, with Nathan McSweeney falling to Bumrah in the very first over. The trouble deepened as Pat Cummins was dismissed shortly after, leaving Australia struggling at 12/2 within the first four overs.  But the funny moment came when Marnus Labuschagne and Mohammed Siraj were involved in a funny banter.

On the second ball of the fourth over, Siraj bowled a well-directed delivery that shaped back into the middle stump, which Labuschagne blocked towards mid-on with a firm "no run" shout. Fired up, Siraj asked Labuschagne what he was saying, and on the very next delivery, Siraj bowled a back-of-a-length ball outside off that shaped away, which Labuschagne left alone. The Indian pacer then exchanged words again, continuing the banter, which Labuschagne responded to with a playful challenge. The tension eased when Labuschagne got off the mark with a well-placed three, beating the dive of the mid-off fielder to his right. Twitter erupted with laughter as the ongoing banter between Siraj and Labuschagne became the talk of the day.
