he Sydney Sixers extend their dominance over the Sydney Thunder in the Sydney Derby by clinching a victory on the final ball of the contest. Cameron Bancroft’s 70 was eclipsed by Ben Dwarshuis all-round show and Jordan Silk’s clutch knock as the Sixers gain crucial couple of points in BBL.

Winning the toss and choosing to field first, the Sixers got early breakthroughs in the form of openers - Sam Konstas and David Warner - inside the powerplay. Following 27 runs inside the field restrictions, Oliver Davies and Cameron Bancroft stabilised the stage with a 88-run third-wicket stand. The latter switched gears with time but Davies fell three runs shy of a fifty in the 14th over. Subsequently, Sherfane Rutherford struggled inside the power surge and was cleaned up by a Ben Dwarshuis corker in the lead-up to 10 runs runs-floating powerplay. Having lost half the wickets by the 17th over, a quick cameo from Sam Billings and Bancroft’s unbridled 70 propelled the Men in Lime Green to 163/5 in 20 overs. 

In response, the Sixers got off to a brisk 34 runs opening stand before James Vince fell after the mandatory field restrictions. Josh Philippe’s watchful 35 off 27 came to an end in the eighth over with the score 59/2. Jack Edwards, Moises Henriques, and Jordan Silk added 30 runs together in the next four overs with the former getting runout for 28. Henriques and Silk added 32 runs together before the all-rounder was outdone at the start of the power surge in the 16th over. However, Silk ensured the Sixers fetched 27 runs off the power surge, turning the game on its head. However, Lockie Ferguson bowled a brilliant 19th over leaving 15 runs to defend against Silk and Ben Dwarshuis in the last over. They fetched five runs off the first three balls followed by a couple of wides and a single. Subsequently, Dwarshuis massive six curtailed the equation to one needed off the last ball and they did it with ease, toppling the Thunder in a nail-biter.
