AUS vs IND | Twitter explodes as Pant’s audacious reverse hit off Boland sparks a hug of respect from Gill

Few players in the cricketing world go the extra mile to produce audacious and outrageous shots, and Rishabh Pant is undoubtedly one of those stars. On the second day of the pink-ball Test against Australia, Pant showcased his brilliance with a stunning shot that earned him a hug from Shubman Gill.

‌At the Adelaide Oval, local hero Travis Head led the charge for Australia, continuing his dominant form against the Rohit Sharma-led Indian side. The southpaw was in sublime touch, scoring an impressive 140 off 141 balls. Earlier, Marnus Labuschagne contributed with a solid 64 off 126 balls, and alongside Head’s carnage, Australia finished their innings at 337 runs. Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were the standout bowlers, each picking up four wickets.

In response, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul began cautiously under the lights, scoring 12/0 in three overs. However, both were dismissed within the first 10 overs, leaving Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill to take charge. Kohli’s departure in the 15th over further dented India’s middle order, placing all the responsibility on Rishabh Pant. Pant rose to the occasion, producing an extraordinary shot that left the crowd and Gill in awe.

On the third ball of the 17th over, Boland bowled a short, short-of-length delivery outside off stump. Pant was quick to position himself and timed his switch hit to perfection. With remarkable precision, he lofted the ball over the slip cordon and sent the red cherry flying to the boundary after a couple of bounces. The audacious shot left everyone, including the slip fielders, stunned, with some even facepalming. Gill, on the other end, walked over to Pant and in sheer appreciation, hugged him. The Twitterverse erupted in praise, lauding Pant's audacity and sharing their admiration for the stunning shot.
