IND vs AUS | Twitter and Bumrah in awe as Nitish Reddy blends flamboyance and textbook class against mighty Oz

The younger generation is full of spirited characters that doesn’t get bogged down by adversities. Nitish Kumar Reddy seems to bear similar traits as he counterpunched steaming Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland with a mix of orthodox and unorthodox strokesplay in the second session in Adelaide.

Despite a 69-run second-wicket partnership between Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, the Indian top and middle order faltered against the Australian bowlers donning the pink ball. Mitchell Starc’s second and third spell seemed too hot to handle for the visitors as he claimed a fifer with India eight wicket down midway through the second session. Unbothered by the hosts’ viscous bowling, Nitish Kumar Reddy took matters in his own hand by counterpunching Starc and Boland.

The first ball of the 41st over saw Starc steam in from around the wicket and bowl a good length delivery outside the stumps. The right-handed batter lunged forward swiftly and lofted the pink cherry over the deep extra cover region for a sumptuous six. While this stroke personified elegance, seven balls later, Reddy pulled out a reverse scoop against Boland out  of nowhere. He quickly opened up as Boland released the cork and middled the fancy stroke to help ball swirl over third man for a six. With India low on runs, Reddy’s blitz left Jasprit Bumrah and the Twitterverse awed.
