As a result, there have been interrogations over Bangladesh to stage the upcoming ICC event, which ten teams will participate in. As per reports, England, Australia, and India have raised concerns about traveling to Bangladesh for the marquee event that is slated to take place from October 3-20.
Currently, ICC is monitoring the situation and three venues are in consideration as a backup to host the Women’s T20 World Cup.
"The ICC is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security agencies, and our own independent security consultants. Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants," an ICC spokesperson said after reports of Hasina leaving her country.
While India and Sri Lanka are well-equipped to host the tournament in a short space of time, other factors may come under consideration. The monsoons in October might affect the competition in Sri Lanka while Pakistan might have visa issues while travelling to India.
