IPL 2024 | Twitter and Amit Mishra jubilated by ruling out age factor to outsmart Riyan Parag

Age is just a number and 41-year-old Amit Mishra exemplified the age-old saying by announcing himself in the 17th edition of IPL. He came in as an impact player and outfoxed the in-form Riyan Parag to give Lucknow Super Giants a needed breakthrough against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 197-run target, posted by LSG on the back of KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s flamboyance, RR earned a fifty-plus opening stand, courtesy of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, the openers departed in a space of a couple of deliveries around the powerplay, followed by Parag departing in quick time, thanks to Mishra’s experience.

Having gone for a six on the third ball of the eighth over, Mishra bowled an aired-up delivery outside the off stump, luring Parag for an inside-out stroke over cover. The Assam batter fell in the trap and failed to generate enough power against the turn, thereby offering a regulation catch to Ayush Badoni at deep cover. Making an impact on his first over in his first game of the edition, Mishra was seen sprinting around and pointing his finger towards the name on the jersey, signifying his importance and experience of the game.

Seeing the veteran defy age and breaking into a celebration of his own, the Twitterverse went berserk.

What a comeback!

That's for sure!

He is unbelievable!

That's some wicket here!

WowS!

He's not done yet!

Hahaha!

LOL!

Wait what?

Gotta check with this!
