‌IPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to Maxwell’s bromance after Faf’s jaw-dropping screamer

A cricket field often embraces friendships among individuals irrespective of the nation. Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis exemplified comradery after hugging each other when the latter completed a stunning catch to dismiss Ayush Badoni as RCB faced off against LSG in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Winning the toss and electing to field first, RCB did not get a smooth start as Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul, the openers, piled 54 runs inside the powerplay. While de Kock continued the assault for a long time, wickets fell regularly barring a fifty-plus stand with Marcus Stoinis in the middle. However, one wicket that caught a lot of public attention involved captain du Plessis at the fag end of the first innings.

On the sixth ball of the 18th over, Yash Dayal dished an off-cutter into the pitch and across Badoni. As the ball was wide of the batter, he had to fetch for it while attempting a slap over the mid off region. Seeing the ball come off the outside half of the blade and balloon over, Faf at the edge of the 30-yard circle quickly ran backwards, following the white rock in the air, and dived desperately, grasping the ball with two hands despite his body thudding against the ground. Seeing the Proteas star complete a stunning catch, adjacent fielder, Glenn Maxwell sprinted towards him and hugged Faf firmly, spreading bromance.

The Twitterverse witnessed this heart-warming moment between two of the star-studded RCB cricketers and here’s how they reacted.
