AUS vs SL 2022 | It’s always been about the team, says Nathan Lyon

Australia are up against Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series. Australia won the first match of the series by 10 wickets with ease on a turning track. Nathan Lyon played a vital role in the first game for the visitors as he picked nine wickets in the match. His spells helped the team wrap up the opposition on a low total in both innings. In the second innings, the Sri Lankan team posted a total of just 113 runs. 

Lyon also reached 436 Test wickets in the match and is 10th amongst the list of highest Test wicket-takers. Seven more wickets will help him overtake Ravichandran Ashwin’s tally who is eighth on the list. Reflecting on his performance in the first game, Lyon said that he is always a team man and believes in contributing for the team. 

"I'm not really sure where I stand on the (all-time wicket-taking) list ... (but) the top end of the wicket takers, there's some amazing names there," Lyon said during the first Test win.

"For me it's always been about the team ... it's something I'm proud of but will look at in more depth at the end of my career,” he added.

Australia will take on Sri Lanka in the second Test of the series on the eighth of July.
