India are currently playing second T20I of a three-match series against West Indies. The visitors won the toss and opted to bowl first against India. India lost early wicket of Ishan Kishan on a total of 10 but Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stitched a partnership of 49 runs for second wicket. Kohli was looking in fine touch and he started with an attacking intent. He went on to score 52 runs from 41 balls playing a vital role in the innings. Reflecting on his innings, Kohli revealed that he came at the crease with a positive intent. 

“I had decided when I went in to stay positive but then we lost a few wickets. I still wanted to keep going but unfortunate I got out. I was happy with my intent that I wanted to play my shots. Sometimes you play with responsibility over a period of time, you tend to ask if you want to play the big shots early,” Kohli said during the break after the conclusion of the first innings. 

“You don't want to be reckless but at the same time you want to play your shots. That is the balance you strive for. Today I was happy with that balance.” 

Kohli also added that the target will be enough in case the bowlers are smart with the ball as it is gripping on the surface. He also praised Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer for their contributions. 

“The wicket was gripping in the middle so if we are smart with the ball we have got got enough. Special mention to Rishabh and Venky in the end. They have got us those 10 extra runs,” he stated.
