IPL 2020 | Rohit has always given me the freedom to express myself, claims Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has stated that Rohit Sharma has always been a trusting captain, who gives him immense amount of freedom to express himself in tough situations. Bumrah has also added that the trust Rohit shows in him allows him to take ownership of his bowling and deliver in crunch situations.

Jasprit Bumrah’s rise in Indian cricket has been a story of grit and determination to amplify the god-given talent he has. He prospered and came to public notice during the Indian Premier League and has always been on an upward curve since then, with his first bad series only coming in New Zealand earlier this year. Bumrah credited his IPL success to Rohit Sharma and the Mumbaikar's unquestionable faith in him, which, he feels, gave him a sense of satisfaction.

"For me, he (Rohit) has always given me the freedom, he has always told me to express yourself (myself), be whatever you want, be it any situation, take ownership of your own bowling, so that gives me a lot of confidence and a responsibility that I'm responsible for whatever I'm doing," Bumrah was quoted as saying by PTI.

"So that's a big thing for a captain because then he gives a bowler so much confidence. He trusts you so much and he trusts the decisions that you will take and that's a very positive sign."

Both Bumrah and Rohit resumed their partnership on the field on September 19 but both the iconic players of the side failed to make an impression as their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings romped home by a canter in the end.
