After testing positive for COVID-19, CSK youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad had to remain in isolation until he recovered from the virus. His isolation was extended when he returned positive twice last week. Later in the week, he tested negative for COVID-19 once but was only allowed to join his teammates when he tested negative for the second time.
It was confirmed by CSK that the opener Gaikwad has recovered from COVID-19 and has joined the team's practice session by announcing the news on Twitter. In the post, he can be seen with his pads on and a bat in his hand as CSK conducted a practice session on Sunday evening. However, it is yet to be seen if he will be playing against Rajasthan Royals in the franchise's second IPL game this season.

Apart from Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar, 11 personnel had also tested positive for the infection. All 13 people from the CSK camp have now recovered. Chahar was also part of the playing XI in the opening game.
Considered as Suresh Raina's replacement, Gaikwad might have to wait for his chance as Faf du Plessis played a match-winning knock of unbeaten 58 against Mumbai Indians while batting at number three. Gaikwad could replace Murali Vijay in the playing XI if the latter fails to do the job in the next couple of matches.
